Executive Assessment for Coaching and Development
Kaplan, R.E., & Kaiser, R.B. (2003, November). Executive Assessment for Coaching and Development. Invited address delivered at the semiannual meeting of the Chicago I/O Psychologists, Schaumburg, IL.
This presentation is a workshop-oriented introduction to an innovation in leadership models and assessment tools. It describes how traditional approaches to assessment don’t capture overdoing—our linear rating scales assume that “more is better” even though many performance problems stem from “too much.” Further, modern assessments don’t reflect versatility as balance—because they don’t pick up when leaders do too much of one thing and too little of another. We present solutions for redressing these oversights along with data supporting their usefulness.
