The Importance, Assessment, and Development of Flexible Leadership
Kaiser, R.B. (2008, April). The Importance, Assessment, and Development of Flexible Leadership. Panel discussion presented at the annual conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology in San Francisco, CA.
This was a panel discussion at the annual conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, 2008. Rob Kaiser presented the paper, “Assessing Flexibility as a Mastery of Opposites”
It’s no secret that today’s hyper-competitive, fast-paced, and rapidly changing global economy puts a premium on adaptable organizations and flexible leaders. Even advertising campaigns celebrate the “agile enterprise” and channel the spirit of “constant self-reinvention.” But what can talent management professionals do to help managers become more nimble, fleet-footed, and flexible leaders? This session features respected scholars and experienced practitioners who will provide evidence-based guidance to practical questions such as: Why is flexibility so important? What is the best way to assess a manager’s degree of flexibility? And how can leadership training and development interventions promote greater flexibility and adaptability?
Rob Kaiser moderated the panel.
