    • Changing the manager’s mind-set in the service of changing their behavior. Not all consultants know to engineer the mind-set change that is the prerequisite of a needed behavior change (read chapters 7 & 8 in The Versatile Leader).
    • Rigor in constructing categories of strengths and weaknesses—distilling the data down to its essence. Many consultants don’t build this important bridge between raw feedback and action plans (read Bob Kaplan’s “Getting at Character”)

  4. SCRUPULOUS CONFIDENTIALITY: Feedback is confidential, as are all discussions between consultant and client. The only exception is when, by prior agreement, the consultant and manager together provide a summary and action plan to the client's manager.

Broad Spectrum of Services

We offer a broad spectrum of consults to individual leaders.

All our consulting to individuals is intensive enough to stand a good chance of improvement. What varies is how extensive the assessment and how intensive the entire consult is. Choose LeaderChange or LaserChange, the two ends of the spectrum—or any point in-between that best fits the individual’s need and the organization’s budget.

LeaderChange is exceptionally powerful and personal, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The executive's leadership is placed in the context of their life, including childhood and personal life. We interview coworkers and, if the client is willing, people outside of work. At its most extensive and intensive, LeaderChange requires two consultants. LeaderChange is based on our book, Beyond Ambition: How Driven Managers Can Lead Better and Live Better (Jossey-Bass, 1991).

LaserChange, at the other end of our spectrum, is a small-scale, efficient, yet potent intervention. Data collection is completely automated. The entire consult can be done on the telephone. LaserChange® is based on our book, The Versatile Leader: Make The Most Of Your Strengths Without Overdoing It (Pfeiffer, 2006).
